This whole thing is set-up weird. Daley has to go through the Grand Prix, P.H. doesn't, but Saurus just jumps right in with ONE guy to beat?

To play Devil's advocate, Daley signed up for the GP, probably knowing its his best shot where PH or Saurus would have chosen a bigger opponent and not Daley.

And who else is up there that can really make a case(that arent in the GP) or the 'retired' or people taking a break(i.e. Pat, Pesci, Bender).

HFK? I've made my case against him even though it would be good.

Hollohan? Needs another big battle before any title talks.

I don't know if the PH/Saurus contender match is for real. While I wouldn't mind seeing that battle, I hope it isn't for a title shot. Saurus vs Pat was "eh" and Saurus vs Eurgh shouldn't really reflect contention within the league. Before that was all GP battles. Although Rich v Saurus 1v1 could cause some fireworks after the how the GP finals went down.

I wish Organik and co would come out with a set criteria for title contention. As it stands Arcane is the only dude to ever really "earn" a shot by winning the first GP.

I get why Rich got a shot, he's put in a lot of work for KOTD since the start and was on the GP winning team. I think that was acceptable. Cats can hate on Rich, and his current persona is a bit big headed and annoying, but the dude puts in work and delivers good performances (even though I think he should've actually lost both the title match and GP finals).

But, when you loot at the history of the chain, its a lot of "really popular battler at the time" gets the shot. Holllohan had, maybe, three battles when he got a shot. Jack Shitt was just given a shot (by "beating" Twist, I guess) but he'd put in work. Saurus was never suppose to have it. Bender had five or so battles before he was given a shot (but everyone was on his dick). Sketch had a 10 battle or some crazy shit, but the list of opponents wasn't really THAT great (and there were a few shady decisions along the way). But he went up against Aspire for the title shot, and while I really enjoy that battle, it was incredibly arbitrary to make those two the top contenders.

When it comes down to it, HFK deserves a shot over anyone else at this point. He's super popular with the fans and he's put in work since Day 1 of KOTD. It isn't like the title can't be defended more than once/twice a year. I think that PH should've taken an L to Shocks. And if Sketch could've strung his bar together better (he seemed really nervous the whole battle) it should've gone to him. If people want to see PH in a title match, there aren't any rules that say he can't have a shot after someone a bit more deserving (HFK)

And HFK isn't my favorite by any means, but I think most people (not Ryan) will agree that he deserves a shot over PH

I think it'd be cool to put out a ranking, like a top five or a top eight or something. Say the number one contender gets the next shot guaranteed, but the rest can challenge each other and battle for who gets the top spot after that. I think it'd be a great way to mix the arbitrary "popular battler at the time gets a shot" method (which the fans obviously like) but also have some structure and reason to everything. I guess it would make more sense to do something like that AFTER the GP is over, though...

And this is what I said on the HFK/title status before to you and you never replied -

'How about, level of skill of battles + the amount of time he has done it in + the battlers who he face = Being active in the singles division of KOTD.

Now, its hard to fault HFK on not being as active since like you said, his last 3 battles are good(I think he beat Diz and won the other 2) but he went in the 2on2 GP knowing that he would be putting aside 1on1 battles for atleast a year. Plus there was the shot at getting a title shot if you won the whole thing(which is why Rich got it). But he didnt win the GP with Charron, and his last battles was against Uno and Madness. Now, if you really want a shot at the title, would you really take the Madness battle over asking for a better opponent who is up in rank in the KOTD title race? I will say that the Madness battle is a once in a life time thing to do, but so is getting a shot at the title for some people.


In the end, Im more a fan of HFK than I am of PH, but when it comes down to it, PH has done what HFK hasn't(atleast publicly apart from the Uno battle), which is make it known that he wants to battle people who are in his way for a shot at the chain.

I didnt condone what KOTD did with the 2on2 GP winning team getting a shot at the chain, but in some way, it makes sense. Just like it does with PH getting a shot.


But here is the kicker, Saurus apparently wants to battle PH now w/ the winner getting a title shot. The original plan should have been Saurus-PH at Octane or Carnage(I think is the May event) and winner gets a title shot. Saurus to me, lost that when Sketch got the battle with PH. PH-Rich seems like it will happen after Carnage.'


Im a BIG Shocks fan and he lost to PH, as much as I'd want to edge the 3rd to him, didnt happen. and He beat Sketch too :\

I wish HFK would be battling Saurus at the Carnage event for the #1 contender spot and PH battling Rich that night for the title, only because it would clear up all this confusion and it would be killing 2 birds with one stone.


And with the whole Top 8 thing, it would make some people really mad in the end and with the Fresh Coast division now, imagine those guys after 1 or 2 battles. I think making one up in your own head is better than a public one made by KOTD is better.
