How? I'm not saying you have to love older hip hop music, or whatever.
To claim love of the genre and the culture and not know anything about one of the greatest and most innovative lyrical craftsmen to touch a pen, though? That's not bullshit to call it out. Canibus has made one album and a handful of tunes I love. Otherwise, he bores me, but there isn't any denying that his pen game is beamed down from space.
"You're two-faced when it comes to holdin' water: Aquemini."
Canibus could win, but he doesn't strike me as the type to carefully study how to beat Dizaster. Performance, presence, half-written rebuttals, jokes, personals, working in freestyles, feeling out the crowd, projecting... Canibus has a lot to learn before he can win.
As far as KOTD fresh coast, its a good look in theory and this first card looks alright, but its gonna need the same attention to video quality and good battles that exists in Canada or else its just a bad ripoff that hurts KOTD's image.
I think this could turn out to be a very close battle. They both have skills in their repertoire that will let them shine in different aspects. Diz is on a killing a spree and arguably the best in the game right now. I will give the slight edge to Diz but its really a toss up IMO. We'll just have to wait and see.
Count me in, I'll be there for this classic.
'This fag is enormous. Wait, I don't want to say that word. Someone grab a TheSaurus.' - Dumb
'Wow. History Has A Strange Way Of Repeating Itself.' - Hollohan
I really like the card because its the right weight for what's trying to be accomplished. The neglected or underviewed A&B talent is being put on, there is a definitive main event, and for trying to make something freschcoast official for so long its just loyal to its namesake.
The unlimited rounds for Canibus vs. Diz worries me. I feel the best would emerge from both if it was set at 3 minutes, with perhaps a 30 second leniency each round.
Man storm is gonna rip cadalack, its not even gonna be fun to watch.
Diz vs Canibus is interesting. I wonder if it'll be a lot like Mac Lethal or Mad Child vs DBD. A sort of, "you can totally roast me in this battle, but once it's over, you're still a nobody and I go back to making money and music" attitude. Someone mentioned Bender's style of being mostly lyrical bar with a few personals. I don't really like that style a whole lot. Those bars are crazy good, but put them on a track, because that's where they belong. I always thought the Bender's style was way better suited for music than battles.
Bottom line here is that Diz is gonna be Diz. Love him or hate him, you know EXACTLY what your going to get. Canibus is gonna make or break the battle. If he comes prepared with crazy bars and personals and mixes in rebuttals, it'll be a good battle.
As far as the March event goes. It looks like the A&B days aren't quite swept out the door. I'm excited for, like, third of the card.
I'm excited to see Reverse Live back in action. and I've always been a fan of Double/Deuce.
Pass vs Brixx is gonna be good.
Philly vs Daylyt? Seriously? Why even involve Daylyt? Pass ripped him two years ago and he no showed a battle with Drect. I do like Swain, though...
Always good to see P-Nut and Fredo in action. And for everyone that doesn't know: P-Nut had a battle against DNA 2-3 years ago out in NY and roasted him, it just popped in my head when I looked over the card.
Storm vs Caddy should be solid. I like how Storm is taking a battle before RD 2 of the GP. That'll be his KOTD debut, I guess.
Everything else looks to be on some A&B/GsB shit.
Canibus will have personals. anyone who has listened to any of his diss records should know that.
and the battle will be unlimited rounds
