there is just so much shit that goes way over peoples heads... real clever bars that make corny joke tellin an easier vote cuz the average fuck can understand it.... overall allot of things should be looked at, structure, presence, bars as a whole, a confident rapper can make weaker bars sound so much better than they realy are sometimes, punches are a big part of it but i think the comedic style is startin to take too much a front seat

if your judging system isnt public, you might as well not have a judging system. knamelis was faking writing notes on his paper at one point mad child vs dirtbagdan. no joke, go watch him during that battle and tell me he wasnt.

knamelis and jacob should make the way they judge battles public. their "system" to judge rap battles could be terrible for all anyone else knows.

The strategy with least structural change is the distribution of rounds as a full tally score

With five judges, each charged with allocating three rounds each, battlers are competing for a majority of fifteen rounds. KOTD videos already conclude with each judge giving rounds to either Emcee A, Emcee B, or a draw.

Instead final decisions expressed as 4-1 for Emcee A, a multitude of possible outcomes better reflecting the battle emerge with scores exemplified such as:

8-7 (Close)
9-6 (Close)
10-5 (Win)
11-4 (terms such as decisive and Body Bag emerge)
12-3
13-2
14-1

The D factor: Judges also determine some rounds to be a draw. With an even stronger judicial reflection of the battle, it increases the multitude of outcomes. Using the first digit 6 as example for the possibilities of Emcee A, and the second digit representing Draw:

6-1-8 (Emcee A loss)
6-2-7 (Emcee A loss)
6-3-6 (Draw)
6-4-5 (Emcee A win)
6-5-4 (Emcee A win)
6-6-3 (Emcee A win)

OUTCOME: Judges never know what the actual outcome will be, and may INADVERTANTLY and COLLECTIVELY vote for a possible DRAW. This would mean the reintroduction of Overtime, but it would be a by product of a formula, and not a means of avoidance by any individual judge. Overtime would be more genuine and unexpected.

As stated previously, what I’ve detailed is what KOTD already does. My projection is this proposal better responds to celebrity judging as well as the occasional poor decision, with the only change being reallocating rounds to reflect a final score divisible by 15. A three judge panel would work the same way.

if any of you havnt been to a live event your argument is partially invalid cause a HUGE part of the battle isnt transfered onto camera.... its called winning the crowd over.. some ppl have horrible projection live but on tape it sounds normal cause of how close the camera is to a rapper.... your live performance is a BIG aspect in battling.. some ppl can sell themselves better live then others can but thats part of the game..

and ppl complain about shit going over judges heads... k well your in a packed venue and bars are coming very fast with lots of crowd reaction... not at home by yourself in a quiet room watching it on a computer with an option of rewinding and taking in the line.. if you make judges think TOO hard there gonna be thinking while your spitting your next bar... NO JUDGE IN THE WORLD... will ever get every rewference ever made... human brains can only hold so much information.. you guys underestimate the judging aspect of a battle... there is ALOT of pressure on you.. and you only have about 10 seconds to make a decision on a 25 minute battle in a 600person venue and know confidently that you can sell your decision to a camera and thousands of viewers online..

judging is opinion based and since mc battles are filled with alot of references to various subjects its impossible to implement a scoring system.. we choose very qualified judges for these battles... these ppl all follow the scene diligently and pay attn to the comments on their decisions and the arguments that follow

I think crowd reaction plays a huge part in the decisions that are made. Like 'The Mast' said, alot of the time people sleep on intelligent and complex bars that deserve applause. So it's ultimatly up to the judges to not get swayed by who recieved more applause from the crowd, and actually compare battlers round for round. In my opinion, consistency should be the main focus, meaning judges should decide who had the better round as a whole. In the end, there has been some robberies in the past, but that's bound to happen. KOTD for the most part has a great judging system.

I think there shouldn't be judging. I think smacks got it down the best. EVERY judgement is going to have an uproar. BUT most battles are going to have fans decisively choose a side. So either a) the fans will decide who wins or B) it was too close to call. The only battles that should be judged are the contender battles, title battles, and grand prix battles.
