KOTD WEST COAST PRESENTS: RESURGENCE - JOHN JOHN DA DON VS CAUSTIC

Simultaneously making his West Coast and King of the Dot debut, John John da Don made the trip from the East for the showdown against Caustic in this headlining battle from KOTDWC’s Resurgence event. One of the rising stars of the past year, the Atlanta based emcee relocated to New York in order to make the transition from Grindtime ATL to the URL stage, one of the few emcee’s ever to do so. Now commanding a high level of competition, John John’s last battle was a mainstage appearance against Hitman Holla in what was one of the best showings from each battler. Having stepped his battling game up, John John da Don is known for his vicious performance, attacking his opponents with aggressively with a nonstop barrage of bars and personal punches. Jumping in the ring with Caustic, which emcee will take down the other and prove themselves victorious?
Proving himself as one of the West Coast’s giants as of late, Caustic may not have been a heavyweight during the early days of the written battle scene, but he is more than a problem now. One of the most dangerous battlers to face off against, the Union City native has a reputation for completely obliterating his opponents. Often utilizing devastating personal information, Caustic crafts his rounds such that the flow and delivery of his material is not sacrificed in order to ruin his opponents in the ring. Beginning to gain some international exposure, Caustic has made moves in both Canada and the UK previously, gaining fans in both countries. With a resume that includes Rone, 24/7, and Jonny Storm, Caustic is a seasoned veteran ready to spar with URL representative John John da Don.

I would probably give that battle to Caustic 2-1.
John John taking the second, but I'd have to rewatch to actually vote.

I'm not sure who won for sure. Ill have to re-watch it, but at first watch I gave it to John John, 2-1. Caustic's first round was HARD and killed John John's, but his second two rounds weren't as good. I gave the second round to John John and the third was up in the air. Caustic went a little over the time limit (at least going by Lush) and threw in some freestyles rebuttals, but nothing hit too hard (at least not off the top of my head), especially the Diddy stuff that didn't apply to him as much as it would have toward other rappers from SM2. John's line about Shang Tsung was a well-planned line that shot down a lot of (expected) lines of Caustic's about how he copies stuff.

I think John edged the first. He just had a couple lines I liked more, but both were kinda dry. His Seahawks line was sick.

Caustic took the second by a fair margin, though John John stepped up. Caustic just had way more hard-hitting lines peppered throughout that round and kicked off with a well-executed rebuttal.

John's remix in the third was awkward. I'm also tired of Heat/Lebron lines. "They gotta dig him up 'cause he ain't treasure his chest." was fire. Caustic's copy machine line was bitten, I'm sure. Yet, best line of the battle. How ironic.

It was a battle of good lines. I don't think it was as good as it could've been, but then again I never really felt this was a great match-up.

People HAVE to stop going over times, man. Lush can't put his hand up and then stop when he hears the dude rapping. If he's over time, he's over time. That shit needs to stop. Also, what the fuck happened to every battle being judged? Aspect said, "If you're scared of losing, don't." Except if you're a U.R.L. guy?

I could care less if a battle is judged or not, I feel judging battles is corny anyways half the time they make fucked up choices, I think just leaving it for everyone to decide who won on their own is cool. It's performances that give you the entertainment anyways right? Not who wins or loses or who has the better record etc.

2-1, Caustic. He took the first by a bit and the third pretty decisively. JJDD crushed that second round.

It's weird how despite the general consensus being that Caustic won (though I felt differently but acknowledged that it could go either way), a lot of people have varying opinions on who won what rounds and by what margins.

That was a great battle. Id say jon jon took the second, but caustic took 1 and 3. This has replay value.
