KOTD PRESENTS: 2012 GRAND PRIX ROUND 3 - CHEDDA CHEESE vs FINGAZ

Chedda Cheese does not look like your typical battle rapper. Despite his awkward, nerdy image, the Alberta battler has one of the smoothest and clean flows in battling today. With a dedicated fan base, Chedda also makes music, transitioning his rapid fire delivery and creative concepts over into song making. As a veteran of King of the Dot, Chedda has battled the likes of PoRich, Fredo, and Henry Bowers in last year’s World Domination. Having easily handled his competition in the Grand Prix thus far, Chedda prepares for a style clash against Fingaz in what is sure to be an entertaining match.

Fingaz has been perfecting his grind, accepting 9 battles in the short span of the last 12 months. Bettering himself every time, Fingaz is back in this 2012 1 vs. 1 Grand Prix match against Chedda Cheese. Having significantly built his name recently, he has have faced off against Aftershock, Sun Tzu, and Daley, and is now hoping to advance to the semi finals of the Grand Prix. Fingaz’ writing is easily his biggest asset, allowing him to weave his intricate and complex rhyme schemes fluidly, all the while delivering punches with a stoic demeanor. With a shot at $5000 on the line, Fingaz has his work cut out for him in this Round 3 matchup.

stumbles in this round of the grand prix are unacceptable and should never warrant a win when the adversing opponent performs flawlessly. bad judgment call on the kid in the mental chair that pat stay probably kicked down a flight of stairs at some point in time.

i'm not a fingaz fan, but he wasn't bad here at all. but i just don't see it being as close as the judges called it. chedda rapped circles around dood. and his crack at his girl in the first was murder. "she's a 7 at best." and the whole calling out battle rap virgins building her ego. that's an angle i've always wanted to see used against fingaz.

^^^haven't watched the battle yet...but in general I don't agree at all that any stumble means an automatic lose against somebody that doesn't stumble if your material is flat out better. if somebody chokes...yeah. that's game over. but a stumble? it could make the difference in a round but an automatic lose? come on son... a stumble isn't THAT big of a deal... at all...

oh damn. yeah...the stumble DID make the difference for sure. I kinda misinterpreted what homie up there ment by stumble. That was a boardline choke. I think that Chedda took the first easy. The second round was basically a tie. And honestly...the 3rd was looking kinda like a tie and it woulda been really tricky to judge but that stumble made the difference. pretty dope battle. Chedda's the man though! so fuckin consistent with an actual original style. Caustic vs Chedda is going to be FIRE! Has potential to be my favorite match up of the tourney...we'll see...

The Brittany angle in the first was murder, Chedda is that dude. Still, this is probably my favourite Fingaz performance. Shame about the choke, but all in all one of the best GP battles so far. Caustic vs. Chedda is gonna be fire.

I gotta disagree. I thought Fingaz took it in the first two.

I really like Chedda, he's all entertainment, and he did out-rap Fingaz, but his material didn't seem to have a lot of weight to it. I probably need to watch it again, but it didn't seem like Chedda really said anything. He made fun of Brittany and how cats on youtube are hyping her up, but does that really hurt Fingaz as a person? Just because the girl is there doesn't make gf jokes that much better. The way I see it, if you're going to attack the girlfriend, you have to do better than Cruger did at WD2...and that shit ain't happening anytime soon for anyone. Plus, Brittany's actually really attractive. And regardless, Chedda had some pretty corny shit sprinkled throughout his rounds.

Fingaz, aside from the slight stumble in the first, which I didn't think was too noticeable, and the choke, was on his A game. The choke was rough, but far from a horrendous one. Daley's shit was a million times worse. Fingaz bounced back really well. I don't think a choke should sway an entire battle. That round, absolutely yes, but you can't just negate the two previous rounds because of a slip up in the 3rd. Overall, I thought Fingaz had better wordplay and attacks and his material seemed to "get" to Chedda a bit more. Fingaz even had Ubiq grinning the whole time.

It was a really good battle and I need to watch it again, but I think Fingaz got robbed on this one. Spitting flawless rounds is great, but when there isn't a lot of punch to 'em and nothing is really being conveyed and attacks aren't hitting, it doesn't really matter if you rapped for six minutes perfectly. Performance does factor in, but I'll take better bars over better performance nine times out of ten.

As much as I like Chedda, I can't see him putting up too much of a fight against a highly motivated Caustic. That's a real style clash. It'll be interesting and neither dude really has any excuse for not bringing bodybag material since neither one has a battle before the semi-finals.

I'm excited to see how Fingaz does at WD3. I've never really liked Shotty, but I thought he did really well in the Unan battle, so that should be a solid matchup.

you thought Fingaz got the FIRST? To me, that was not close to A-Game Fingaz. His second round was A-Game. I mean...I honestly didn't find any of his bars in the first round were hot. I thought the Chedda Cheese lines were corny...and nothing else really hit hard. Even without the line speaking about dudes girl (which i thought was pretty nuts...and time you can make somebody feel that awkward...in a battle...you did something right...AND it led to that yoko ono line which was pretty dope) but I think Chedda just had a bigger bar count. Fingaz material in the 2nd and 3rd (minus the choke) was def A-Game...its sad he choked so bad or he might have got the decision. I was def impressed by him. Anyways...that's just what I think...watched it for the 2nd time this morning.

Fingaz is too good to fuck up in his battles all of the time, especially important ones. I wish the crowd wasn't biased when he battled AfterShock because you KNOW he wouldn't mess up like this.

There is no way the first or the third rounds are going to Fingaz, the second I could see you giving it to him but to mee Chedda edged that one. How is this so clsoe in the judge's eyes? Is it me or do yall see it like me too?

Wheelchair kid should never judge a battle again.

Fingaz' girl looked dissappointed a lot during the battle. I actually felt bad. It's like Chedda is the only Calgary guy that doesn't choke/stumble which is funny because he has the hardest style to do, Well him and Sketch, I don't think he ever choked. Nebula, Daley, and Fingaz mess up a lot though.

You didn't think the ubiquitous line was hot?! That was Fingaz best punch of the round and it got slept on hard. The parodys/pair of D's line?

And I don't think the line about Brittany made Fingaz feel awkward. The yoko ono line was good, I just don't think the scheme was as hard as everyone says. I mean, Chedda's scheme was about how people on youtube say they want to bang Fingaz' girlfriend...how is that a solid diss? "You're girlfriend has an ego!" How? I get that he's saying that she isn't as hot as people hype her up to be, but she is hot, and I don't see Chedda with a girl. I just don't how it's a really effective angle.

I mean, Look at Fingaz during all the rounds and then look at Chedda. Chedda looks nervous most of the time Fingaz is spitting and Fingaz just seems fine.

After watching it again, the first round was close, probably the closest round (material wise). I thought Fingaz took the 2nd and should've taken the 3rd if not for the stumble.

People wanna talk about how choking in the quarterfinals of the GP isn't acceptable, but Chedda had a punch line that was, literally, "you wet the bed until you were 20, they used to call you the wizz kid, and not because you're a genious." I mean, having material like that shouldn't be acceptable at this level at all. Chedda had a few lines like that.

I just think that Fingaz had the better, more effective rounds and he should've won the battle. Still a really good battle.

first of all...yeah...every single bar in fingaz first verse was underwhelming. honestly...i'm very confident you aren't level headed in this battle at all. "look at fingaz" "brittney didnt look awkward at all". i'm in a room with 8 people and thats LITERALLY the exact opposite people feel. like the opposite. it seems like you either have a hard on for fingaz, or can't be objective with chedda because he's geeky. fingaz 2nd verse was so hot, arguably the best verse of the battle...but i mean....i just relistened to the 1st verse by both guys... for you to say that was even debatable straight up a bad look for your credibility...as far as objectivity goes... maybe you just gotta watch it a couple more times but jesus...

I never said "Britttney didn't look awkward at all." You, literally, just made that up. You blatantly making shit up is a bad look for your credibility.

I don't see how eight people in a room makes my opinion any less valid...or how that makes your opinion any more right...or how you thought that was a legit way to strengthen your opinion...

I can't be objective with Chedda because he's geeky? What?! Where did that come from? You just made that argument up. I'm pretty sure that I said I really like Chedda. And I never even said he was geeky. I don't give a shit if you're geeky. I said that he had some really wack material, which he did.

Yeah that "Wiz kid" line was stupid, weak material but honestly having sub-par material is better than forgetting your material. It's not like Chedda had bars like that all throughout the battle, that's one bad punch out of 3 rounds (don't go back and try typing out each person's lines, neither one of us wants to go through that).
The Brittany angle was really good. I mean look how fucked up she looked at response to it!

Chedda always looks nervous, that's just his face.

I gotta disagree, if someone has really good material, I'd rather watch someone take ten seconds to compose themself and get back on track in the middle of their round than hear some really wack lines that someone actually took the time to write. Not for judging the battle but just a personal preference. But it's also easy to be a stickler for material when I can rewatch the battle at will.

I also think that a really solid recovery from a stumble like that goes a long way. At least Fingaz kept his cool and finished strong.

Yeah, Chedda didn't have a lot of corny bars, but the ones he did have were pretty awful. But, I mean, Chedda isn't exactly above having some really corny lines/schemes here and there.

Maybe I just never noticed Chedda looking nervous all the time. He seemed legit nervous during/after Fingaz second. I'll have to peep some other Chedda battles to see if I just never noticed it before.

And, yeah, Brittany's reaction was priceless, I just don't think it was an effective angle against Fingaz.

Watched this the day it came out, figure I should start commenting on battles since that's why I started this account finally, usually I just watch every battle and never comment on it, and none of my friends are super in to battles like I am so finally I have an outlet to use useless knowledge.

      ANYWAYS

GP has been great this year seeing people evolve and get shine they deserve is great, Chedda being the getting shine he deserves, he's had a fire flow with great double time witty lyrics and great rhythm since forever, while Fingaz use to be one of my least fav battlers out of KOTD, he has became excellent blowing my mind with how much he has improved just since Stepeasy battle he had.

Round 1: 10 - 8 Chedda, Chedda flawless delivery, got every word out smooth and heard, landed each punch, was creative as hell, good round, Fingaz had a good amount of filler, and boring bars and one slip, not very close round. No debate Chedda.

Line of the round - "Motor boat her no-no's" (whole scheme)

Round 2: 10 - 9 Chedda, this round is more on preference of style, I prefer the way Chedda went about attacking Fingaz, Fingaz was real on this round, I liked his punches but a couple were just one or two bars to stretched for me, if he just hit them a little more often then he would've got this one

Line of the round - "I'll kick in the door, grippin' the four, faggot shouldn't've fucked with me."

Round 3: 10 - 10 Tie, Chedda and Fingaz both saved their last to be thier knockout rounds, fire bars, bar after bar, to many schemes and angles to mention, Fingaz did do a decent slip up here, but did a good job of bouncing back and keeping the crowd with him, if he didn't slip it'd be 10 - 9 for him, still resulting in a loss overall regardless.

Line of the round - Musical note scheme, Finger food scheme

Battle: 30 - 27 Chedda Cheese, no body bag, good battle from both sides, can't wait for Caustic vs Chedda been waiting for it all Gran Prix!
