KOTD West Presents: Meltdown - Tricky P vs Charron
In battle rap there are very few occasions where you see two friends go head to head but when it does it usually makes for an explosive battle. Tricky P vs Charron is no exception to this rule and his one of the most regarded battle to ever come out of Calgary. Charron, being one of the world's top freestylers, and Tricky P, a KOTD vet since the first event, are both looking to prove superiority within the league in this highly anticipated match up. Melt Down and it did not disappoint.
Charron is greezy man. Tricky P is sick 2, his starting round was definetly his best; thought the crowd reaction wasn't there, his lines were still good and his presence took over. Charron went off on the Big L flips though.
Trickys slips compared to Charrons consistency basically then played out the battle, and even in the 3rd when Charron basically goes off and seems like a mad jackass, he kinda chills on that shit, and seemed like a nice dude :P. I feel like I've watched a lot of both these guys rap careers. BOTH really improved, if they meet in the GP I expect a better performance from Tricky.
I thought this suffered from being too long, and thus it diluted the material.
This would've been an IMMENSE battle had it been condensed and had Tricky prepared more. Charron's Mr. Burns flip was almost too good to be freestyled. It wasn't the battle I hoped it'd be, but it was good.
Battle was sick!!!, and i agree with @The Mast was kinda dragged out ( by trickys frees) but was a great performance by both...
i thought tricky would of came with better angles and his flow is getting played.. cant wait to see more from these guys in the near
Wow, I couldn't finish this battle. I was expecting more from Tricky P but I guess he can't embarrassed since Charron free'd most of is rounds plus Tricky kept slipping up anyway. Idk, I guess Charron obviously won but it seems Charron needs to be put in his place. He has been imitating a lot of battlers lately and his tough/ I get pussy act is not believable at all. I heard the crowd laugh when he said he had a big dick LOL. So I have respect for both but Tricky is going to need to be more polished and switch his style up some and Charron needs to find the right balance before someone really pulls his card.
let me say first, I have never really felt Charron, but he did go all the way in on this battle, and that is what battling is all about. That said, Tricky was not great in this one. He was coming off a nice battle against Suus. In this battle though, he really went style over substance. And, to be honest, the flows were tight. The flow was a lil Soul Khan-esque, but good all the same.
Now, there was just no need for Trick's free at the end of his third. He was spittin 1/4 or 1/5 good freestyle lines on average. It was at that time, that Tricky must have lost his mind b/c he started slapping Charron, and stole the guy's water bottle?... it was so ackward, and kind of unprofessional. To sum: Charron 3-0.
Really happy with this battle, I thought it was clearly my best performance. Tricky P had some awesome flows but I wish he prepared a bit harder, at his best he is nearly unstoppable. Obviously people are going to hate which is expected, how can you not love the Big L rebuttals though lol? Thanks for watching guys, cheers.
Yeah, the whole thing was waaay too long. KOTD has some major time problems nowadays. They used to lock that shit down, now it's like they don't even keep time for the timed matches. Regardless, I think unlimited round battles are annoying, regardless of who is battling.
I enjoyed the battle. It's obvious that Charron won.
Charron keeps improving. His writtens still quite aren't up to par with his flips, but they're getting a lot better. I think if he had shorter rounds, his stuff would be a lot more focused and come off better. He's made it a point that he can do flips like crazy. He's made a point that he can go for ten minute rounds. Now he just needs to make the point that his pen game can stand with the best in the league. If he can do that, he'll be really hard to beat.
I don't know if it was just poor preparation, but for Tricky to crush Shazam and Suus and then stumble and bumble through Issac and Charron makes me think he has some trouble with better opponents.
LOL @ Organik with the look of "Gimme back my drink muhfucka" trickys 3rd made me laugh more than any battle Ive watched in awhile. Wasnt strong obviously, but all things considered fucking funny. I agrre with Charron's Burns flip almost being too good.
